Coronavirus Protocol

Updated: Mar 21, 2020

During this time of uncertainty The Collar Club will be continuing to offer our adventure dog walks, solo dog walking and pet feeding services to local pet owners.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the simple pleasure of a daily dog walk may now become difficult or even off-limits for those who are having to self-isolate, or for those of you who are key workers and are required to work longer than usual shifts on the front line.

If you, or anyone you know, is vulnerable and having to self-isolate and is struggling with their dogs daily exercise please get in touch and your dog can join in our adventures for the duration of your isolation period.

For key workers needing assistance with your pets needs while you are working longer than usual shifts, we are on hand to help and can offer our spaces to you on a priority basis as well as during evenings and weekends.

Given the current situation with COVID-19 Hugo and I are both taking additional precautions at this time to ensure the safety of both our clients and ourselves. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us to implement these changes to our usual service.

If you are working from home but not self-isolating:

· When collecting and returning your dog we are able to let ourselves in as normal so as not to interrupt your work, it is advised that we collect your dog from a separate room or the entrance to keep to social distancing guidelines.

· If you wish for us to knock on the door and wait for you to bring the dog out, we will always maintain social distancing between people to 2 metres.

If you are self-isolating:

· We ask that you dog is collected whilst you are in another room, or in the garden where we can keep at least 2 metres apart.

· For those isolating we will always use our own washable dog leads.

· We will not be able to put on or take off your dog’s harness or collar before/after the walk at any home that is self-isolating to restrict the likelihood of transmission, therefore we ask for you to prepare your dog beforehand.

We are taking all possible precautions by wearing disposable gloves when entering homes, using antibacterial spray/wipes on our vehicles and belongings regularly, as well as washing our hands as much as possible. We have supplied ourselves with vinyl gloves, antibacterial surface wipes, disinfectant, antibacterial pet wipes and our own washable leads to minimise the chance of transmission. It is of the utmost importance to us right now to protect the most vulnerable individuals and whilst we are doing everything we possibly can to ensure we have enough anti-bacterial pet wipes etc in supply for all, we will be prioritising our most vulnerable clients at times when we may not have enough of these for all.

Antibacterial pet wipes can be purchased online or at pet shops, we are advising clients to use these where possible before and after their dog has been out. We are committed to maintaining social distancing and will not allow members of the public to interact with dogs out in our care.

Hugo and I are both currently healthy and have not yet had to self-isolate. We are aware that this time will inevitably come for us, as it has for so many of you already, and we are expecting to have to pause our services for two weeks while we are self-isolating. We will inform all of our clients immediately when this occurs and hope we can count on your patience and understanding during our isolation period. Normal service will resume once we have completed the 14 days of self-isolation.

We are fortunate enough to have some very wonderful and loyal clients who are keeping us on while they are working from home. This is something we deeply appreciate right now amidst all the uncertainty. Being self-employed our work walking dogs in the local community is our lifeline and we thank you all for your ongoing support right now.

Hugo and I are hoping to keep The Collar Club afloat and carry on during these truly peculiar times. It is our hope to keep on going so we can be here for your dogs during the ongoing pandemic and again when normality resumes.

Thank you all for your understanding and support in helping us to implement these measures to combat Covid-19.

Stay strong, stay healthy, stay safe.

Love, The Collar Club

(Sarah, Hugo & Frasier the Sheltie)
